Oh Happy (Preview) Days are Here Again!

Explore the Arts! One of OCHSA’s most FAQ is, “Is it possible to visit or to arrange a tour of the school?” The answer is YES and the time to do that is quickly approaching. In fact, the time to apply and audition is just around the corner too, which may seem crazy given the fact that for most of us, this school year has just begun. Well, it’s true and it’s time to starting thinking about next year already. If you are reading this you are on the right track — way to think ahead. Congratulations!

Here is OCHSA’s run down on its Preview Days: “Preview Days are held on the school’s campus twice each year, usually on one Saturday in November and another in January. Prospective students and families will receive an overview of the academic and arts conservatory programs, and have the opportunity to tour the school and meet with conservatory directors. Each Preview Session will provide prospective parents/students with a general overview of the school’s academic and arts programs, presented by Dr. Ralph Opacic, executive director and president, and members of the school administration. Student applicants and their families will also have the opportunity to meet with the Arts Conservatory directors and take a tour of the campus.”

Here is my run-down. GO! They are informative, fun, exciting and will probably leave you really motivated to gain acceptance. And if you are in fact serious about getting accepted, then attending a Preview Day is an excellent idea. Here you can gain insight, ask questions and learn lots of stuff that will help you apply well and hopefully succeed. However, don’t delay. Last year, these suckers really filled up FAST. In fact, they had to create a whole ‘A, B and C’ scheduling system to accommodate everybody because there were too many people to have the day flowing loosy-goosy like they’d done in the past. They had to get seriously organized and you should too. It will be in your best interest as you apply and prepare to attend OCHSA or be an extended member of the OCHSA community (moms and dads!).

So with all this talk about Preview Days, you are probably wondering, When can I apply, and what is the application deadline, for the 2012-2013 school year?

I am glad you asked! New Student Applications for the 2012-2013 school year will be available online beginning in December 2011 and will be accepted until all audition spots are filled. Applications submitted by mid-February 2012 will be reviewed and considered for auditions taking place January through mid-March 2012.
